Physical activity: mats, balls, riding toys, etc. Playing outside is a valuable activity for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers. In many ways it promotes their development. Babies, toddlers and preschoolers are sensory-motor learners. Besides all the health benefits, playing outside stretches children's thinking and knowledge. Children need coordination, they need a chance to practice their basic physical skills. Too often these days we are afraid to allow our children to play outside. There are so many dangers waiting around every corner. Make play groups, get a bunch of kids together and start games with them. Just be close by to make sure no injuries occur. I know as a working parent it is very hard to make sure your kids get out side daily. If neighbors could come together and each take one day a week to encourage the children in your neighborhood to play together. Each parent taking turns on the different days of the week, before long you will have very busy kids, not to mention free time for the separate parents, whose turn it is not.

Having kids go out and pick different leaves up to put in wax paper is a great way to get them outside and walking around. The children adore little art projects such as this. There are many benefits to outdoor play. It also gives our children a sense of adventure if they live near woods, always making sure they never enter extremely wooded areas alone.

Children with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD). This study examined the relationship between children's nature exposure through leisure activities and their intentional functioning using both within and between-subjects comparisons. Parents were surveyed regarding their child's intentional functioning after activities in several settings. Results indicate that children function better than usual after activities in green settings and that the "greener" a child's play area, the less severe his or her attention deficit symptoms. Thus, contact with nature may support intentional functioning in a population of children who desperately need intentional support. Besides all this, playing outdoors reduces stress in kids. Children express and work out emotional aspects of every day experiences through unstructured play. Children allowed to play freely with peers learn skills for seeing things through another persons perspective, cooperating, sharing, and solving problems.

Children learn from motion. As adults we know that we learn through doing, it is the same for children. Developing perceptual abilities might suffer, when so many of their experiences are through media computers books and homework. The sense of smell touch and taste are wonderful ways to learn.

Children who are more free to spend time out doors, gain courage in moving through the larger world. They should gain the ability to navigate their immediate surroundings, in safety, thus laying the foundation for the competence to eventually lead their own lives.

The world we live in today is increasingly complex, and a little scary. The fact remains our children need as much as we did, the freedom to feel the wind on their cheek. The kiss of the sun, and engaging in self-paced play. Ignoring the developmental functions of unstructured outdoor play denies children the opportunity to expand their imaginations beyond the constraints of the classroom.

Here is another shocker; to act rightly a person cannot be acting selfishly. That means that he or she cannot be acting from a selfish or self-seeking intention. It means that a person cannot be in a selfish controlling or manipulative mode, and cannot be acting to get something for self.

The expression of true love requires that our intentions be pure; that we be sincerely will to give with no strings attached. We must also be willing to act in lovingly responsible ways, which includes being willing to express truth as we know it in appropriate ways. In a selfish environment, the expression of truth can sometimes be dangerous so discretion is in order.

At the heart of the process of expressing true love is a sincere willingness to express love. Without that willingness, whatever comes forth shall be some form of selfish action.

Here is an analogy:

Think of a human being as a "garden hose," and his or her will as the "faucet" attached to the side of a house. The "water" is love.

In order for us to experience or express love, we must open our personal "faucet" (will) and be willing to allow water to flow (express love). When we are willing to express love, "water" flows through us and we feel good (we experience love). In addition, those around us get "wet" (are loved).

On the other hand, when we selfishly and defiantly refuse to express love, we keep our personal "faucet" shut so that no "water" can flow through us. Like an unused garden hose left out in the sun, it soon dries out and begins to decay.

Language plays a very vital role in any human community-school, company, organization, group, home etc. the language of any human society tells a lot about that society therefore, it can be further emphasized that language and any human society are inseparable. In any human society, language occupies a very important seat, more than it appears to all. The functions of language in any human community include the following; expression of thoughts, political, administration, education, social, religious, legislation and so on.

The aim of any human community is to have peace and unity, many nations of the world today are facing different degrees of conflicts, and Nigeria unfortunately is one of such countries. This paper is set to examine the role language has to play in attaining national unity in Nigeria. People have in the past expressed their various views about the meaning of language.

A lecturer of mine, Professor Fakuade.G. said and I quote," language is the faithful mirror of the society" in other words a language is what shows the true nature of any society. This implies that what a language is meant to do in any society is to reflect to the world what that society is all about. The language of any society therefore should give us a perfect knowledge of what that society is all about this includes; the culture, beliefs, mode of dressing, marriage and every other sociolinguistic information about the society. Language is also supposed to be seen as the symbol of a nation just as the flag, Anthem, Currency etc. in other words, language is to be the window through which people can see into the society.

As viewed by Bamgbose, English is the language of integration in Nigeria, amidst the compounding complexities of Nigeria especially in relation to the language question, the only language that indexes the spirit of togetherness is English. This shows clearly that so far in Nigeria, English Language has played a very important part in keeping Nigeria together as a unified nation. Amidst our cultural diversities and differences in beliefs, English language has still played a great role in keeping Nigeria together and since it is the connection between the various ethnic groups that exist in Nigeria, one cannot but give that plus to English in keeping us together so far. Out of the over 500 languages that we have in Nigeria we still have a link and that link is nothing but English, this has served as the means of communication between the different tribes that are in Nigeria.

Of all the heritage left behind in Nigeria by the British at the end of colonial administration, probably, none is more important than the English language. It is now the language of government, business and commerce, education, the mass media, literature, and much internal as well as external communications. Bamgbose (1971)

As a Language of Wider Communication (LWC), English is used for phatic communion, ceremonial purpose, and instrument of keeping records, information dissemination, self-experiment and embodiment of thought among the various linguistic groups of Nigeria. The common linguistic basis that constitutes a requisite for the existence of any nation is provided by English. So with English as the common tongue to all the ethnic groups, the collective sentiment of belonging together despite the individual or ethnic differences is forged.

It is obvious from that the language that has held Nigeria together up to date to a great extent has been English language which was passed on to us by our colonial masters and so far it has played that role well. In our official day to day communication it has greatly enhanced the relationship that existed between he various ethnic groups we have here in Nigeria. An Igbo man who has never been to the western part of the country nor has any understanding of Yoruba will definitely see English and the best means to express his emotion, thought or whatever he has to say in such a situation.

Another area that language has been helpful in keeping us together in Nigeria is in the area of academics, this is because it has to a great extent helped to bridge the gap between the rich and poor, the privileged and the less privileged. Hence we have English as the link between the high-class and the low-class in Nigeria.

In religion the important role played by language can never be overemphasized, in various religious gathering; English has served as the medium of communication hence bringing the people together under the same umbrella. Many religious gathering in Nigeria either makes use of English in carrying out proceedings and his of course has contributed significantly to the peaceful co-existence in our beloved country. Although, we have had various religious disputes and have had one conflict at one time or the other.

As we have earlier pointed out the various roles English in the attainment and sustenance of national unity however, I believe it would have been better if the role(s) played so far by English had been played by an indigenous language, this is no intension or attempt to disrespect English language, it has greatly contributed to Nigeria's national unity. But I am convinced within that the situation would have been better if that position had been occupied by a language that is truly ours; if the language had been home-made.

Misrepresentation of ideas and expression is one of the major reason for conflict that we have around the world today originated from the use of words/utterances, where ideas intended have been wrongly presented. You can never attain the level of proficiency a native speaker would in his language and this has caused a lot of people what they never bargained for, it has sent many to their untimely grave. A man's language is seen as the tool that helps him express his thoughts unfortunately for a man by using another man's language which is said to be his L2; he succeeds in misrepresenting his ideas. In such a situation he uses a word out of context and some people could be so sensitive to the use of word. Many of the conflicts and ethnic dispute we have had in the past could have been averted if our official language had been an indigenous language. The reason is that many people have orally misrepresented their ideas, views and intentions due to their low level of proficiency, they have chosen the wrong word at the wrong time and this has led to unhappy testimonies. We have chosen English as our 'official language of day to day" operation and activities and this has led to a situation whereby our indigenous languages occupy the back seat. English language is the key to any important door, no one who cannot communicate in English language is expected to occupy an important position in any organization.

The New International Webster's Comprehensive Dictionary of The English Language (Encyclopedic edition), defines language as, the expression and communication of emotions or ideas between human beings by means of speech and hearing, the sounds spoken or heard being systematized and confirmed by usage among a given people over a given period of time." From the above view, it suggests that a language is supposed to communicate the internal (original) idea and express what a particular speaker has within. But this is not always so in a case where a particular speaker is not proficient in the language he is using as a medium of communication at a point in time for instance, an Hausa man who wants to communicate with a Yoruba or an Igbo man will have to use English where his level of proficiency is low compared to his L1 there is likely possibility that such a person is very likely to misrepresent some of his intensions during communication and such may not be taken likely by the other party and could lead to conflict between them. In such case would one say that language has been able to play it role well? This has definitely not justified the meaning of language and the essence of communication.

The way a particular thought is conveyed is very important during communication; hence the essence of any communication is to present accurately the internal idea a speaker. Many Nigerians think in their MT and try to communicate their intentions in English and in some cases ideas have been misrepresented, they don't have the correct word to represent their thoughts. The situation is not the same when interlocutors from the same ethnic background and where they both have proper knowledge of the language.

Where there is a similar language background and better understanding (and decoding of ideas is accurate), there will be reduction in the level of conflict we have in Nigeria. We could make us of our version of the English language, the Pidgin English. I believe this will go a long way in reducing the level of the reoccurring conflict in our beloved country, Nigeria. Since the source of most of these conflicts have been the way and manner our various ideas have been wrongly expressed or interpreted, we should seek a better way of communication and this is the reason I believe everyone has a role to play. We should begin to seek a better way of expressing ourselves and avoid unnecessary conflict by using a language that we are not attain an encouraging level of proficiency, and work on our communication skills.

To this end, let the federal government seek the advice of language expert on how to attain this goal and give total attention to this course. Let all well meaning Nigerian come together and see how we can explore and exploit the wealth in our language as we drive towards national unity. And make every Nigerian realize that language can play more that the role of communication. Let us review our language policy in other too avoid the death of our language, which is our symbol.

It is urgent for us to begin to see language as a vital agent of unity in our beloved country, Nigeria and begin to see how we can use this tool as an agent of unity to make Nigeria a more unified country and push aside all ethnic and tribal differences. Language is a tool that can be in our quest for national unity and should be handled with total commitment and seriousness. Every Nigerian should begin to think and see how language can contribute to the growth of the giant of Africa.

Our culture is embedded in our language. Let us embrace our language with enthusiasm and pride and promote what we have together and then our differences will become a thing of the past. This is a call to national unity but this time around it is coming through an unpopular medium, let us use this valuable tool of ours towards one Nigeria. Language has a very vital role to play in our quest for national unity. Let us embrace it just as we have done to football. Language has a vital role to play in our quest for national unity.

It should be simple to say why you'd never love any of the other 6.6 billion people on the planet. As much, or the way, you love your son. It should be easy to explain this person, who gave birth to you as much as you channeled him here. But it isn't simple, or easy. Primal loves go to the center of the universe, and the edges of it too, and contain, in their unique way, all there is. They are a bond that will not diminish in time, because they are a distinct spiritual force in time. Standing on their own, and together, like the four physics forces.

I could speak about his physical enchantments, and recite his achievements, virtues, and gifts. Or say that when he entered a room, at two, or four, or six, or sixteen, or twenty-six that the quality of air and light and time and conceptions of that hour, and all potentialities, changed too.

I could show the photos and letters of a lifetime; laugh and cry at those million moments of fun, and adventure, and sorrow, and daring. And express pride that his life has been one continuous act of selfless courage, charm, and caring. But to say too much would intrude on a discrete and other-oriented man.

When we speak the world runs away. When we are together there is some kind of magical everything, in a bubble, all contained right there. If we walk on the beach and say nothing, it doesn't matter, because everything is in his just being there.

Uni-verse means one unifying song. Its nature is essentially creativity and grace, with everything at once mirroring and containing its other side. My essential nature is creative. His is grace. Beyond eternity my first blessing is my Son.

1.) Are you happy in your relationship? Do you feel that you and your spouse speak AT each other instead of to each other? The biggest problem with relationships is communication. In the book summary, we will profile the 5 Love languages of how people Express and Receive love.

2.) Emotional Love Language - Even though you and your spouse speak the same language when you talk, your emotional love language can be as different as English from Chinese.

3.) Love Tank - Mr. Chapman talks about the concept of a love tank. When the Love tank is empty, is when the relationship is on the rocks and you feel you are simply roommates wasting time. This is the empty feeling people feel in a loveless relationship. When the tank is full, you will have a fulfilling relationship for both you AND your spouse.

Warning: Understanding the five love languages and learning to speak the primary love language of your spouse may radically affect his or her behavior. People behave differently when their emotional love tanks are full.

We will take each Love Language and define it as well as give a quick example of it. One critical component is the understanding of your love language. In the book Gary gives a questionnaire to help you understand your love language.

1. Words of Affirmation- Mark Twain said - "I can live for 2 months on a good compliment." People that have this love language are very susceptible to WORDS. Thus when you compliment them they hear it and see it as a sign of love. Likewise the opposite is true. Demanding words and negative criticism really hurts people with this primary love language. I can tell you from personal experience that this has real power. My much better half has Words of Affirmation as her love language and the power of words affects her greatly. Just knowing this really enhances our relationship 10X. This stuff works!!! Remember: The tongue has the power of Life and Death. Choose your words carefully.

2. Quality Time- This simply means giving the person your undivided attention. When you see dating couples in a restaurant, they are engaged with each other and look at each other. When you see married couples in the restaurant they sit there and gaze around like they just want to eat and get out. Quality time does not mean that we have to spend our together moments gazing into each other's eyes. It means that we are doing something together and that we are giving our full attention to the other person. Words of affirmation focus on WHAT we are saying, whereas quality conversation focuses on what we are HEARING. One thing to do to improve this love language is to take a walk with your spouse. Leave the cell phones at home.

3. Receiving Gifts - People with this love language typically are visual in nature. Without gifts as visual symbols, they may question your love. Everybody knows that some people put huge amounts of energy into the wedding ring. Most of these people are not greedy by nature but simply express love through gifts. One thing to do to fill this love tank is to give gifts. This does not mean that you have to spend all of your money. Sometimes handmade gifts are the best.

4. Acts of Service - By acts of service, I mean doing things you know your spouse would like you to do. Requests give direction to love but demands stop the flow of love. One thing you can do to for this love language is to ask your spouse to make a list of ten things he or she would like for you to do during the next month.

5. Physical Touch - I have a personal affinity to this love language because it is mine. Physical touch is a powerful connector. It can make or break a relationship. To the person whose primary love language is physical touch, the message will be far louder than words "I hate you" or "I love you." A slap in the face is detrimental to any child, but it is devastating to a child whose primary love language is touch. One simple thing to do for this love language is to simply hold hands.

When trying to understand your love language, please understand that people tend to criticize their spouse most loudly in the area where they themselves have the deepest emotional need.

Remember that with all the love languages when you do the correct ones you fill the love tank but when you do NOT do them you empty the love tank. This seems obvious but I wanted to point it out because it is important. Likewise this logic works with any relationship not just intimate ones. If you understand the language of your co-workers then it will be easy to identify with them and the bond will be stronger. Any time you can enhance a relationship regardless of type, is a good thing and makes life easier.

I hope you have found this short summary useful. The key to any new idea is to work it into your daily routine until it becomes habit.

Habits form in as little as 21 days. I highly recommend you read this book and put the principles in place. One thing you can do right now is work on figuring out your love language.
