Futurama Playstation 2 (PS2) Game Review
The game starts out in the hangar at Planet Express as you play as Fry, on the look out for missing tools for Professor Zoidberg. Search the hangar, offices, corridors, avoiding electrical wires, perform some platform jumping, collecting cash and filling up on extra health from the "Slurm" vending machines, and find the hidden key card to unlock doors. Fry starts out with a hammer on this level, but works up to some cooler, more powerful guns throughout the game.
Futurama Playstation 2 (PS2) Game Review
Head underground into the Sewers, where as Fry you have to kill mutants, underwater snakes with one eye, and pipe tentacles with your laser gun and avoid the deadly sewer canals whilst jumping over crates to cross to other areas. Shoot crates for cash and ammo.
Go through the Mine Facility as Bender, defending yourself against robots with his twirl attack, sliding lunge, collecting power-up crystals and avoiding the heat blades on the conveyor belt. In Run Bender Run, head into the mine shaft and run for your life to avoid a giant boulder coming up behind you, whilst jumping over caverns, collecting your crystals, and dodging barrels.
Or as "one-eyed" Leela in Market Square, you get to fight with your punch and kick attacks against skeletons, avoid the crazy bombers which will try and blow you up, solve codes in the puzzle rooms, by stepping on the correct tiled squares in sequence on the floor. Collect gold bars by destroying objects.
There are plenty more levels to explore, and when you reach the last level in Fry Fight's Back, you battle against the "Destructor", the big boss robot with his one arm missile launcher. Before you meet Destructor, you have to search through various corridors for the last lot of keycards. Dodge some spinning blades and gas vents, hide in the crevices as you dodge a couple of huge laser machine guns, destroy some half-bodied robots and work out some numbered codes to unlock your master laser weapon. You then meet the Destructor for the final showdown. He shoots missiles, lasers and then stands still while his stomach opens and you are attacked by flies. Avoid his firepower and get him in the belly where it hurts enough times and "yay", you've saved the planet and get to watch the final movie scene.
All up the game has 21 levels, there are heaps of items to collect throughout, find switches and credit cards to unlock doors, solve an array of puzzles, but more importantly, destroy the bad guys! Each character has their own weapon/attacks/health power-ups and you get to travel through some other amazing levels, from Red Rock Creek, Old New York, the Junkyard, Temple Courtyard, Red Light District and more. Other baddies include rock monsters, swordsmen, weasels, lava monsters, evil cactus, and sentry's to name a few. There's also plenty of slick Futurama-style humor to keep you laughing.
Extras: If you collect all nibblers (creatures in cages) in each level you also get to unlock movies, music and characters. There's a total of 20 minutes worth of unlocked movie footage never seen. You can also switch from first to third person view anytime during the game, and there are cameras for viewing other areas in each level.

Animated and resembles same as in the TV show. Good colour, with darker areas that set the scene.
Controls:
The controls are okay, but the side view movement can be a bit tight during the game when turning around.
Fun-factor:
9/10 - Overall, really enjoyed this game and there's a good variety of action and puzzle solving to get through. I would recommend this video game for kids and adults if you enjoy the Futurama TV show, as you'll definitely get some value out of it.

Although the company scrapes by it is always in fierce competition with Moms Friendly Delivery Company, a cornerstone of MomCorp, which although appears to be owned by a sweet, frail old lady is in actual fact owned by a manipulative director, who will stop at no means to make her company succeed. So ruthless are her business strategies that it's a wonder that the friendly courier workers at Planet Express manage to survive at all, but this they do thanks to their complete disregard for health and safety laws and the minimum wage; the Professor has even be known to accept the occasional bribe. With a company slogan that reads 'Our crew is expendable, your package isn't' you can't help but feel that the crew of Planet Express would be better off working self-employed courier jobs.

Futurama - Courier Work in the Galaxy
The Professor may be the bane of the courier worker's lives, yet despite many changes of owner throughout the series, the business always manages to fall back into his capable hands. Cubert and Dwight inherited the courier work business from the Professor during one fateful episode in which he was declared dead. During their management the company was renamed 'Awesome Express' and grew to be more even more profitable than Planet Express, until it emerged that the two boys were not carrying out any deliveries during their courier work, but rather depositing all the parcels on a crater on the moon.

Although Planet Express carries out courier work in every corner of the galaxy, the headquarters are based in New York City on the corner of West 57th Street and Henry Hudson Parkway. The building is one of Planet Express's only three assets, which also include the famous green delivery ship and a servant robot, known simply as 1-X.
The Planet Express headquarters are built upon a green limestone cavern and contain five separate floors, with rooms consisting of the Professor's laboratory, the main hangar, a kitchen, living room and even a room entitled 'The Accusing Parlour', which in used in one episode to solve a murder; not quite the typical courier office that you are most likely accustomed to then!
But whilst Futurama may provide viewers with an entertaining look at work in a courier company it also raises some questions about courier work in the future. After all how long can it be until we swap our trusted white vans for pea-green spaceships and start taking up self-employed courier jobs on the planet Zorg?

Branding seems to be a big problem with the company. It first might be helpful for Altracell to improve and simplify their branding, as the average consumer or business customer might be confused as to their sell. Second, the company should jump on the Social Media bandwagon before its too late (BP anyone?). Creating a Twitter and Facebook account would be a good start to take control of their online PR.
The Nuclear Power Plant from "the Simpsons" - Mr. Burns' nuclear power plant is a classic example of an unproductive work atmosphere. Homer is often caught eating donuts on the job, Larry and Carl constantly bicker, and Mr. Smithers' is pretty much a glorified secretary.
Don't they actually need some engineers and scientists to run a nuclear power plant? I'd suggest hiring Professor Frink first, and also considering repositioning Homer to a less technical position where he could use his social skills (human resources?)
Dunder Mifflin from "The Office" - Although the Scranton branch of Dunder Mifflin ends up being one of the sole surviving offices in the corporation's downsizing, there are quite a few things they could do to improve productivity.
One would be to improve their website as a whole, in particular their Careers Page. The page is quite basic and would not serve to attract the top talent in the country. Dunder Mifflin could make use of an Applicant Tracking solution to manage their hires, while also providing the functionality to create their own careers pages.
Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce from "Mad Men" - So you're thinking: "Wait a second, Don Draper is super productive. What gives?" Well, as much as Draper and crew seem to get stuff done, they could still make some organizational changes that would lead to better productivity.
First of all, as much as those guys like to drink during the work day, they probably would be better off leaving the drinking to client lunches and dinners.Not only would Draper spend less time sleeping on his office couch, there probably would be less drama in the office overall minus the whiskey.
Another thing that went out the window after the 60s were personal secretaries. Cost-wise, it doesn't make sense for every person with an office to have their own personal secretary, especially if much of what those girls are doing isn't even work related.

Oh and did I mention that the power produced from a hydroelectric plant does not generate any emissions or waste which just happens to be much better than operating a coal-fired power plant.
Now there is also another very efficient way to generate hydropower and for this answer we look to the largest body of water on the planet...the ocean. Commonly referred to as wave power or wave energy, it uses changes in the air levels of sealed chambers in order to power some of the largest yet most efficient turbines ever made. Once a wave rises into the chamber, pressure builds up when the water meets the air thus forcing the air to squeeze though small airway ports. These airway ports are channeled directly to a highly advanced mechanism that turns the generator...and creates clean, green, renewable energy.
These hydroelectricity producing chambers remain afloat in the ocean and the only down fall you can find is that the amount of power they produce can vary. The majority of of these hydroelectric plants are found on the western coasts of Scotland, northern Canada, southern Africa, Australia, and the northwestern coasts of the United States. These systems are usually small and can power a warning buoy or a small light house.
There is also tidal energy. The difference with wave energy is that when the tide approaches, the water is trapped in reservoirs behind dams. When the tide drops, the water behind the dam is released thus producing power similar to a hydroelectric power plant.
This can only work if you have tides that are at least 16 feet and since there are only a few places on the planet that have these....this method doesn't seem very practical.
But at the very end of the line, you have ocean thermal energy. Here, you get power based on the different temperatures in the water. In order for this to work, you need at least a 38 degrees Fahrenheit difference between the warmer surface water and the colder deep ocean water. Unfortunately this method of producing hydroelectricity is still in the trial stages, and is currently being used Japan and Hawaii to determine the level its ability to become a permanent, practical solution to our non-renewable energy crises.
Overall we all must understand that hydroelectric power is one of our best solutions a green, renewable energy source. It is safe to use, produce, and it fits perfectly into our future of powering a cleaner, more advanced...GREEN planet! Let me give you a few examples of predictions that misfired when people made forecasts based on their own charts. In each case, the transiting planet did express itself according to astrological principles, and the ultimate outcome wasn't always so far from what was predicted. However, rather than speeding down the express lane on the highway, these auto-forecasters wound up on a detour down a country lane, getting snagged on bramble bushes on either side of the path. Astrology does work; it just doesn't always work quite the way we think it will.

One fan of astrology who was a professional writer for various mainstream publications was excited when he read that Jupiter was entering Gemini. He had a stellium in that sign, and he was sure that this would be his lucky year. He was going to write prolifically and land a fabulous new shark of an agent and some big-bucks writing contracts. He was so certain that his book - in production and soon to be released - was going to be a bestseller that he took out a second mortgage on his house and added on a posh new home office.

What actually happened? He hardly wrote at all in the year that followed. He was stricken with a prolonged and terrible bout of his dreaded enemy- boredom - so profound that none of the writing projects he had lined up appealed to him in the least. He read trashy novels all year and deluged his friends with e-mails whining about his writer's block. As the monotony dragged onandonandon, he decided to research one of his personal interests, just to pass the time. In the end, he started a newspaper column on that subject. It was fairly successful and broadened his income base.
So, yes, there was growth and expansion, but not nearly of the caliber that pop astrology had led him to expect from transiting Jupiter. Since then, as he's followed the daily positions of the planets in his astrological calendar, he has come to anticipate that any transit through Gemini - even the monthly Moon and certainly Mercury's yearly path through that sign - will begin, for him, with an acute attack of boredom. It may not produce new writing inspiration in the end, but the tedium that he hates so much is the spur to seeking out new information.
A woman who hadn't been a professional astrologer very long was still working weekends to make ends meet. Pluto was strong in her birth chart, and she became worried when she noticed that transiting Pluto was squaring her Sun at the same time that transiting Uranus, the ruler of her 8th house, was squaring natal Pluto. She concluded that she was going to die. Though she didn't have any health problems that she knew of, she did live in a dangerous city and came home late at night from her weekend job.
So convinced was she that the end was near, she made out a will, which she placed in a prominent position on top of her desk every time she left the house. She was also ultra-careful coming home from work, taking a taxi if she felt at all unsafe. Was she right to worry? Who can say? Maybe she did stave off an assault by being extra cautious. How did the Pluto/8th-house transit manifest, then? She got involved with a Scorpio man who was almost the death of her - but that's a whole other story, and not mine to tell.
Okay, it's not fair to pick on the fans and the neophyte professionals, so now I'll tell one on myself. My Moon is in the 9th house, the house of publishing, and transiting Pluto was going to make a trine first to my Moon, then to my Midheaven ruler, and then to my Midheaven itself. Was I ever psyched! Finally, I said, I'm going to be able to write something for the mainstream that will sell big. Hey, it was Pluto, so maybe my astrological mysteries would finally catch the eye of a publisher. Watch out, Mystery Book Club, here I come!
The first thing that happened was that, within the space of six months, both of my New Age publishers died; each had published several of my books. One publisher died a particularly Plutonian death - no one knows to this day whether he committed suicide or was murdered. The other publisher, my dear friend and colleague Betty Lundsted, I mourned deeply. Not only did I miss her personally, but I also missed her expert editing and her capacity to advocate for her writers in the foreign translation process. I felt quite lost without her, so it was a couple of years before I could finish my next book.
As the Pluto transits continued, one after another of my books went out of print. My royalties dried up - and some of those books had provided a nice financial cushion for 20 years. I was puzzled. These were trines, folks - a Grand Trine, to be exact! Determinedly, even doggedly positive, I reasoned that maybe those long-standing publishing relationships had to end so I could break into the mainstream markets and transform my income base. Something better would come along. But in fact, publishing itself has been transformed (and not for the better) during Pluto's transit through Sagittarius.
Fast-forward a couple of years. I decided to publish my own books, as e-books, because (inveterate tree-hugger that I am) I'm tired of killing trees in order to have books in print. E-books - based on .pdf files - are slow to catch on, although today's college and graduate students routinely use .pdf files for their assigned reading. When those students decide to take up astrology, I'll be ready for them. Pluto, as you know, is a very slow-moving planet, and a Pluto transit - especially to a series of points - can go on for yearrrrrrrrrrs. It's still going on, and I am not nearly at the end of the road with this evolution of my publishing endeavors.
What's the point of these cautionary tales? One possible conclusion is that we can't really know in advance precisely how a transiting planet will express itself this time around - even when we've had a series of transits by that same planet. Doubtlessly, the dynamics associated with the planet in the astrological teachings will play out, but not always according to our expectations or desires. The other point is that we shouldn't take our own predictions too seriously. If we are anxious, it is a good idea to get a second opinion from an experienced professional astrologer who can bring some detachment to the mix. All the same, it is by living out and observing how the transits work in our lives and the lives of other people that we become more seasoned in these studies. Consider it an adventure in which the twists and turns of the road are hidden from view!

Futurama Playstation 2 (PS2) Game Review
The game starts out in the hangar at Planet Express as you play as Fry, on the look out for missing tools for Professor Zoidberg. Search the hangar, offices, corridors, avoiding electrical wires, perform some platform jumping, collecting cash and filling up on extra health from the "Slurm" vending machines, and find the hidden key card to unlock doors. Fry starts out with a hammer on this level, but works up to some cooler, more powerful guns throughout the game.
Futurama Playstation 2 (PS2) Game Review
Head underground into the Sewers, where as Fry you have to kill mutants, underwater snakes with one eye, and pipe tentacles with your laser gun and avoid the deadly sewer canals whilst jumping over crates to cross to other areas. Shoot crates for cash and ammo.
Go through the Mine Facility as Bender, defending yourself against robots with his twirl attack, sliding lunge, collecting power-up crystals and avoiding the heat blades on the conveyor belt. In Run Bender Run, head into the mine shaft and run for your life to avoid a giant boulder coming up behind you, whilst jumping over caverns, collecting your crystals, and dodging barrels.
Or as "one-eyed" Leela in Market Square, you get to fight with your punch and kick attacks against skeletons, avoid the crazy bombers which will try and blow you up, solve codes in the puzzle rooms, by stepping on the correct tiled squares in sequence on the floor. Collect gold bars by destroying objects.
There are plenty more levels to explore, and when you reach the last level in Fry Fight's Back, you battle against the "Destructor", the big boss robot with his one arm missile launcher. Before you meet Destructor, you have to search through various corridors for the last lot of keycards. Dodge some spinning blades and gas vents, hide in the crevices as you dodge a couple of huge laser machine guns, destroy some half-bodied robots and work out some numbered codes to unlock your master laser weapon. You then meet the Destructor for the final showdown. He shoots missiles, lasers and then stands still while his stomach opens and you are attacked by flies. Avoid his firepower and get him in the belly where it hurts enough times and "yay", you've saved the planet and get to watch the final movie scene.
All up the game has 21 levels, there are heaps of items to collect throughout, find switches and credit cards to unlock doors, solve an array of puzzles, but more importantly, destroy the bad guys! Each character has their own weapon/attacks/health power-ups and you get to travel through some other amazing levels, from Red Rock Creek, Old New York, the Junkyard, Temple Courtyard, Red Light District and more. Other baddies include rock monsters, swordsmen, weasels, lava monsters, evil cactus, and sentry's to name a few. There's also plenty of slick Futurama-style humor to keep you laughing.
Extras: If you collect all nibblers (creatures in cages) in each level you also get to unlock movies, music and characters. There's a total of 20 minutes worth of unlocked movie footage never seen. You can also switch from first to third person view anytime during the game, and there are cameras for viewing other areas in each level.

9/10 - Overall, really enjoyed this game and there's a good variety of action and puzzle solving to get through. I would recommend this video game for kids and adults if you enjoy the Futurama TV show, as you'll definitely get some value out of it.

When I work with clients one of the things I look and listen for is clues to what they are passionate about. Mars in Virgo. With Mars in Virgo we have an opportunity to take care of the details of our lives. Let me give you a few examples of predictions that misfired when people made forecasts based on their own charts. In each case, the transiting planet did express itself according to astrological principles, and the ultimate outcome wasn't always so far from what was predicted. However, rather than speeding down the express lane on the highway, these auto-forecasters wound up on a detour down a country lane, getting snagged on bramble bushes on either side of the path. Astrology does work; it just doesn't always work quite the way we think it will.

One fan of astrology who was a professional writer for various mainstream publications was excited when he read that Jupiter was entering Gemini. He had a stellium in that sign, and he was sure that this would be his lucky year. He was going to write prolifically and land a fabulous new shark of an agent and some big-bucks writing contracts. He was so certain that his book - in production and soon to be released - was going to be a bestseller that he took out a second mortgage on his house and added on a posh new home office.

What actually happened? He hardly wrote at all in the year that followed. He was stricken with a prolonged and terrible bout of his dreaded enemy- boredom - so profound that none of the writing projects he had lined up appealed to him in the least. He read trashy novels all year and deluged his friends with e-mails whining about his writer's block. As the monotony dragged onandonandon, he decided to research one of his personal interests, just to pass the time. In the end, he started a newspaper column on that subject. It was fairly successful and broadened his income base.
So, yes, there was growth and expansion, but not nearly of the caliber that pop astrology had led him to expect from transiting Jupiter. Since then, as he's followed the daily positions of the planets in his astrological calendar, he has come to anticipate that any transit through Gemini - even the monthly Moon and certainly Mercury's yearly path through that sign - will begin, for him, with an acute attack of boredom. It may not produce new writing inspiration in the end, but the tedium that he hates so much is the spur to seeking out new information.
A woman who hadn't been a professional astrologer very long was still working weekends to make ends meet. Pluto was strong in her birth chart, and she became worried when she noticed that transiting Pluto was squaring her Sun at the same time that transiting Uranus, the ruler of her 8th house, was squaring natal Pluto. She concluded that she was going to die. Though she didn't have any health problems that she knew of, she did live in a dangerous city and came home late at night from her weekend job.
So convinced was she that the end was near, she made out a will, which she placed in a prominent position on top of her desk every time she left the house. She was also ultra-careful coming home from work, taking a taxi if she felt at all unsafe. Was she right to worry? Who can say? Maybe she did stave off an assault by being extra cautious. How did the Pluto/8th-house transit manifest, then? She got involved with a Scorpio man who was almost the death of her - but that's a whole other story, and not mine to tell.
Okay, it's not fair to pick on the fans and the neophyte professionals, so now I'll tell one on myself. My Moon is in the 9th house, the house of publishing, and transiting Pluto was going to make a trine first to my Moon, then to my Midheaven ruler, and then to my Midheaven itself. Was I ever psyched! Finally, I said, I'm going to be able to write something for the mainstream that will sell big. Hey, it was Pluto, so maybe my astrological mysteries would finally catch the eye of a publisher. Watch out, Mystery Book Club, here I come!
The first thing that happened was that, within the space of six months, both of my New Age publishers died; each had published several of my books. One publisher died a particularly Plutonian death - no one knows to this day whether he committed suicide or was murdered. The other publisher, my dear friend and colleague Betty Lundsted, I mourned deeply. Not only did I miss her personally, but I also missed her expert editing and her capacity to advocate for her writers in the foreign translation process. I felt quite lost without her, so it was a couple of years before I could finish my next book.
As the Pluto transits continued, one after another of my books went out of print. My royalties dried up - and some of those books had provided a nice financial cushion for 20 years. I was puzzled. These were trines, folks - a Grand Trine, to be exact! Determinedly, even doggedly positive, I reasoned that maybe those long-standing publishing relationships had to end so I could break into the mainstream markets and transform my income base. Something better would come along. But in fact, publishing itself has been transformed (and not for the better) during Pluto's transit through Sagittarius.
Fast-forward a couple of years. I decided to publish my own books, as e-books, because (inveterate tree-hugger that I am) I'm tired of killing trees in order to have books in print. E-books - based on .pdf files - are slow to catch on, although today's college and graduate students routinely use .pdf files for their assigned reading. When those students decide to take up astrology, I'll be ready for them. Pluto, as you know, is a very slow-moving planet, and a Pluto transit - especially to a series of points - can go on for yearrrrrrrrrrs. It's still going on, and I am not nearly at the end of the road with this evolution of my publishing endeavors.
What's the point of these cautionary tales? One possible conclusion is that we can't really know in advance precisely how a transiting planet will express itself this time around - even when we've had a series of transits by that same planet. Doubtlessly, the dynamics associated with the planet in the astrological teachings will play out, but not always according to our expectations or desires. The other point is that we shouldn't take our own predictions too seriously. If we are anxious, it is a good idea to get a second opinion from an experienced professional astrologer who can bring some detachment to the mix. All the same, it is by living out and observing how the transits work in our lives and the lives of other people that we become more seasoned in these studies. Consider it an adventure in which the twists and turns of the road are hidden from view!
